Choice Allotments

Argiope bruennichi
This is a wildlife rich allotment site as some of the allotment holders manage their plots especially for wildlife.

The site is famous locally for its wasp spiders. In some years hundreds can be seen during late summer and autumn. The allotments are also excellent for grasshoppers and bush-crickets.

The rarest visitor to the allotments was a cattle egret that spent a few days at the site feeding amongst the allotments during the day and roosting in the surrounding trees.
