An excellent site for flower bees (Anthophora) including the scarce Anthophora quadrimaculata. Flower bees are like minature bumblebees and have a very loud high ptiched buzz. Anthopora quadrimaculata and the similar Anthophora bimaculata (pictured) have bright green eyes. The more common Anthophora plumipes is larger and the females are very dark almost black. Four species of flower bee have been recorded foraging on the flowers within this coastal garden.
West Marina Garden is also a good site for seeing hummingbird hawk-moths during insect migration periods.
