Ivy Bees and Hoverflies

A glorious sunny morning so I visited our neighbour’s garden to take some more pictures of their Ivy Bee colony. These were performing well, though there can be even more apparently. At the bottom of the garden is a tall, south facing ivy hedge; there were no Ivy Bees on this at the time, but it was absolutely alive with hoverflies. These were mostly Drone flies, but there was also a fine Volucella zonaria, several Myathropa florea and both Helophilus trivittatus and pendulus
