Garden Moths

There were 16 species in my Fairlight garden moth trap yesterday, despite a windy night. These included one of my favourites-Canary Shouldered Thorn, which I catch occasionally.  There was also a Silver Y, a day flying species which is everywhere at the moment, with several in our garden on Lavender especially, but other flowers too. On a brief glance they can be mistaken for Hummingbird Hawk Moths as they dart around- I haven’t seen one of those anywhere this year.
