Yesterday, Aug 19, I took my shrimp net down to Pett level for the first time this year, not to catch shrimps [just as well], but to see some of the creatures living on our sandy shores.
This time I caught several fish, including 3 Lesser Weevers– in the picture you can just see the retracted black spiny fin which the unwary can step on . I was pleased to get a large pipefish, Great Pipefish I think, which just managed to slip through the net before I could photograph it. Finally a rather strange looking small fish, which appears to be a Pogge- I’ve not seen that before.
I also scooped up a couple of hermit crabs, with right claw larger than left, as well as a few Shore crabs and about 10 shrimps sp.
