Country Park insects

I ran the Hastings Country Park NR moth trap last night-a warm evening but a bit windy before dawn, then calm. There were 37 species in the trap, including Mullein Wave, White Point and a couple of Rush Veneers.

Best, and a new species for HCPNR, was Evergestis extimalis, this one presumably a migrant.

After checking the trap I looked for birds around Warren Glen, and came across the large hoverfly Volucella inanis, the first I have seen this year, completing the trio of similar Volucellas in HCPNR-see recent posts for zonaria and inflata.
