Pebble Hook-tip

Crystal Ray’s fine record of Dusky Hook-tip prompted me to have a second look at the Pebble Hook-tip I caught this morning, but it was indeed this common species which I catch most years. Subspecies falcataria. Looking through my moth photos to see if  had a better one I found this picture , taken in May 2008, of a Pebble Hook-tip of the distinctively different pale form pallida, the only time I’ve caught this. It looks very like the illustration of  subspecies scotica in The Book, but that is a moth of northern Scotland.
