Garden Moths

The freak weather continues and it has been far too windy to run the Hastings Country Park NR moth trap in its exposed position. I’ve caught a few common species in the garden though, including this crisply marked Dagger. It is either a Grey or Dark Dagger, which need genitalia examination to seperate.

More easily recognised were our front lawn/meadow Six-spot Burnets, now emerging en masse– a few days ago we counted 40 of these beautiful insects buzzing around, and more have emerged since.
