Insect update

I’ve been away for several days, and was keen to resume moth trapping. It was too windy yesterday to put out the Country Park trap, but I switched on our Fairlight garden trap anyway. The result was just 2 moths-a Cypress Carpet and a Heart and Club, both regular here and a very poor total for the time of year.

While I was away, Jill was photographing various insects in our garden, including a Tree Bumblebee and this superb sawfly on June 14, , which appears to be the Figwort Sawfly  Tenthredo scrophulariae– I’ve not seen one of those so hope it turns up again.
