The wind dropped late last evening, so I put my Fairlight garden moth trap out. Despite a bright night there were 5 moths in it this morning, 2 Common Pugs, a Green Pug, a Treble Lines and a micro-moth the Ash bud moth. This is a widespread , small but attractive species, I’ve not caught it since 2007.
Thanks to Andrew Grace for identifying the fly I posted yesterday, it certainly seems to be Gymnosoma rotundatum, a fly with quite a restricted distribution in SE England . And well done to Graham and Gerry for two fine records from Filsham !
