A westerly gale today, so I tried a seawatch from Rock-a-Nore from 0615-0730.
A total of 39 Gannets flew west, looking splendid as always, also 2 Kittiwakes. What was probably the resident male Common Scoter flew past.
Not much moth news of late, the weather is hopeless, my last session in HCPNR on June 5 produced just 5 common species, but none at all in my Fairlight trap on the same day.
Equipment news : the Friends of HCPNR Robinson trap is now back in operation-bulb holder innards out of line- and the landmark Field Guide to the micro-moths of GB &I has just been delivered. This looks great and immediately enabled me to identify a couple of micros from photographs that I had caught over the last couple of weeks.
