Jubilee Big Lunch Picnic

Yesterday’s big event for the Friends of Hastings Country Park Nature Reserve was a celebration picnic on the East Hill for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. The weather could have been kinder but those who came along were royally entertained by local troubador, Ben Fairlight Edwards, and culinary temptation was provided by our wonderful bakers, Rod & Chris. Not good weather for birdwatching sadly, just a few swifts over the Old Town, but Ben’s poignant song about a guillemot he rescued at Bulverhythe along with his garden song and others kept our spirits up in true British fashion. Final verdict – “It seemed crazy to go ahead but clearly we should be crazy sometimes!”
