Moth trapping

Last night I ran my garden trap in Fairlight, and the more powerful Robinson trap in Hastings Country Park NR, where mist shrouded the trapping site  at first light.

There were 10 moths of 5  regular species in the garden trap, but the Robinson trap is beginning to show its worth, with 60 moths of 12 species today .

The Satellite

The commonest was Small Quaker, with 20; others included March Moth, Chestnut, Red Chestnut and The Satellite, so called from the resemblance of the distinctive white markings to moons orbiting a planet !
