Further Filsham…

Hello everyone and yuletide felicitations….
I thought I would update you on the progress being made, slowly, at Filsham Reedbed. I was hoping to publish something on here every month but time has not allowed this.
Ive enclosed a couple of pictures, the first, Oct 2011, is an area called Sniggles Fen which we started work on at the end of August this year. For comparison I have enclosed a Dec 2011 picture of the same area, looking in the same direction. The obvious main difference is the water level, due to the rain in November and early December the valley was flooded (as flood plains should be!) allowing the water levels in the reedbed to increase significantly. The other main difference is the disappearance of the Willow stands, which I think is rather impressive, more so considering that just about all this work is undertaken by volunteers with hand tools (with the occasional Sussex Wildlife Trust employee using a chainsaw).
Should you wish to join the volunteer team and help us with this hard work then let me know.
Thanks
Graham
