Hastings autumn bird migration 2011

Sunday 9th October
W f3-4 mild with showers, clearing later

Rock-a-Nore 0655-0840
Mediterranean Gull 1W , Auk sp 3W 1E, Shelduck 10W, Brent Goose 62 W, distant duck sp 25 W, Common Scoter 3E 2W , Great Skua 4E [note there were 256 past Dungeness yesterday !], Sandwich Tern 10 W feeding, Red Throated Diver 1W and down on sea.
Rock Pipit 2 over, 15 Gannets feeding.
A Grey seal very close inshore.

White Rock 7.30-8.10
Siskin 4E and a small movement west of Brent goose 6, Curlew 1, Meadow pipit 5, Pied wagtail 6, Reed bunting 1 and Chaffinch 4.
2 Redwings, 1 Mistle thrush, 22 Robins, 80 House martins, 5 Swallows and 1 Chiffchaff.

Torfield 07.55 – 08.30
Siskin 13w, House Martin 75w. 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 1 Goldcrest, 11 Chiffchaffs. (Also of note 1 Treecreeper and a nice mixed flock long tailed tits, blue-tits & chiffchaffs.)

West Hill 08.30 – 09.00
Good continous westward passage of mainly House Martins with some Swallows, Siskin 18w, Meadow Pipit 2w, Gannet 1 feeding. 3 Chiffchaffs

HCPNR for 5 mins. at 1130:
33 Brent Geese W at sea, 1 Fieldfare W
