Hastings autumn bird migration 2011

E f2-3 0/8ths, moderate to good

Fairlight to Hastings 0650-0950, via Firehills, Warren Glen, Barley Lane and Ecclesbourne:

Siskin 235 E, Redpoll 2E, Pied Wagtail 35 E, Yellow Wagtail 1 in off sea, Goldfinch 43 E, Skylark 8 all ways, probably in off sea, Crossbill 1W, Chaffinch 3E.
No obvious movement of Pipits, but 50 around, similarly Swallow and House Martin. 5 Reed Buntings high overhead, direction unclear.
Also: 36 Chiffchaff, 9 Goldcrest, 2 Dartford Warblers Firehills, 4 Stonechats-clear arrival, 1 Lesser Whitethroat.
The Dartford Warblers confirm 1 which I barely heard in the same place 2 days ago.

White Rock 7.10-8.10
Siskin 63E, Pied/White wagtail 9E, Meadow pipit 5S, Swallow 16 over.
26 Robins, 9 Chiffchaffs, 2 Goldcrests.

West Hill 07.35 – 10.04
Meadow Pipit 55 in, Grey Wagtail 6E, 1 in, Goldfinch 9E, Linnet 87E, Swallow 7S, 10 in, Siskin 198E, Pied/White wagtail 10 in, 9E, Blue Tit 4E, Dunnock 1 in, Chaffinch 112E, Wheatear 1 in, 1E, House Martin 3W, Skylark 1 in, 1 Blackcap, 19 Chiffchaffs, 11 Robins. (Also Sparrowhawk hunting prey over Castle)

Mistle thrush 1 over, Song thrush 1N, Siskin 20E, Pied wagtail 2E.
5 Chiffchaffs, 6 Robins, 1 Wheatear, 2 Stonechats, 20 Meadow pipits, 1 Lesser whitethroat, 1 Great spotted woodpecker.

Swallow 40E, House Martin 90E, Meadow Pipit 15E, Cormorant 5SW (high), Great spotted Woodpecker 1E. 3 Common Redstarts, 2 Whinchats, 5 Stonechats, 10 Goldfinches, 60 Linnets, f12 Long-tailed Tits, 1 Wheatear, 1 Hobby (hunting Marsh Harrier – south)
