Hastings autumn bird migration 2011

Thursday 22nd September
SW or W f4 moderate breeze, 1/8ths increasing later, good.

White Rock 6.35-8.35 AG
A westerly passage of the following;- Swallow 102, House martin 9, Grey wagtail 9, Yellow wagtail 2, Pied/White wagtail 14, Meadow pipit 146, Tree pipit 1, Great spotted woodpecker 2, Chaffinch 12, Linnet 31, Goldfinch 10, Reed bunting 6.
10 Chiffchaffs, 20 Robins, 12 Dunnocks (very noticeable here today), 1 Great spotted woodpecker, 1 Grey heron.
A male Sparrowhawk which attempted to catch a Dunnock some mornings ago was seen again at the same spot along a fenced grassy bank, trying to catch a Chiffchaff and then a Robin. It was again unsuccessful and this time was chased off by a crow.

Swallow 74w, House Martin 3w, Meadow Pipit 92w, Chaffinch 6w, Pied Wagtail 3w, Reed bunting 2w, Siskin f27w
Chiffchaff 3, Robin 2, Wheatear 1.

West Hill 10-10.30 AG
Birds passing west or coming in;- Meadow pipit 29, Pied/White wagtail 1, Linnet 1, Goldfinch 1, Swallow 27.
1 Wheatear.
