This event was organised as part of Hastings Heritage Open Days and took place yesterday morning from 9am on the East Hill in Hastings Country Park. The weather was kind to us as we sat and enjoyed the wonderful views over Hastings and further to Bexhill and Beachy Head. Jacqueline Rose and Alan Parker from the Friends of the Country Park Nature Reserve were on hand to chat about the flora and fauna and we were especially lucky to get good views of two wheatears and also of sand martins flying overhead. Various visitors joined us briefly including two vintage cyclists from Bexhill and a group of German schoolchildren with their teachers. What a delightful way to enjoy a picnic breakfast! Unfortunately, I appear unable to upload a photo but Alan will try and post one later.
