Insect foray and a Seawatch

Arctic Skua

Once again, the Friends of Hastings Country Park NR event yesterday-an “Insect Foray ” had to be cancelled due to a combination of wind, heavy rain and fog. However 2 people did turn up, including a young visitor from Dubai, so we showed them a few moths I had caught that morning. These included a Little Emerald, a Fairlight garden first for me.

This morning an hour at Rock-a-Nore produced a modest westerly movement of Terns-25 Sandwich and 12 Common, and 2 Arctic Skuas together flying west. These were the first local ones I’ve seen since the one pictured, which was harrying Sandwich Terns at Cliff End on Aug. 2nd
