More Sawflies

Much peering into the brambles along Brakey Bank recently [Hastings CPNR, east side of Warren Glen], revealed several colourful Sawflies; the Bramble Sawfly Arge cyanocrocea and the larger Tenthredo mesomelas. Sawflies are members of the order hymenoptera, which includes Bees, Wasps and Ants and are so-called because they have saw-like ovipositors, used to cut slits in stems and leaves.
