West Hill… Rough-Legged Buzzard

Flocks of 45 and 4 Lapwings had been sighted flying west earlier, barely visible against the murky sky, but on the arctic West Hill the only birds were a disconsolate Meadow Pipit and a Wren.
After a while a Crow appeared, silently mobbing a much larger, long tailed and broad winged bird of prey. The raptor hurled down the wind and passed quite close proving to be a superb, frosty Rough-legged Buzzard. Mike Grace
