West Hill Birds

I was pleasantly surprised yesterday to see that a Chiffchaff had appeared in the gulley of the West Hill early morning. It was a rather small, greyish brown individual, but unfortunately silent, making race identification difficult.
Also on a brief visit up there again at about 13.00hrs, a somewhat startled Woodcock was flushed, clattering up from my feet and swerving rapidly away. I don’t know who was more surprised, it or me. Mike Grace
