Conservation Day at Hastings Country Park Nature Reserve

Last Sunday we started an exciting new project to create an area of open water and wetland habitat in an otherwise dry area of the farmland of the Reserve. This will be achieved by widening and deepening an existing ditch and cleaning out the ditch that runs into it.
The first phase is to cut back the hedge that has grown out over the ditch, which we got stuck into on Sunday. We were very pleased to welcome a new volunteer, Simon, and sincerely hope to see him again. Well done everyone, a very good days work!
To find out more about this project and other aspects of conservation within the Reserve, why not come along and join us. Our next date is Thursday 16th. For more details see the events calendar on this site.
