Insects in the Country Park

A number of nice insects were found during a Friends of Hastings Country Park “Bug hunt” this afternoon. The flowering Hogweed near the visitor centre was covered with hoverflis as usual, but other flies included the impressive purple and orange Alophora hemiptera, and the commoner Echinomya fera.  On the sandy path leading from Coastguards to the cottage we had good views of a Bee Wolf excavating a hole.
